County Alpacas at the 150th Great Yorkshire Show
Described as a resounding success the YAA hosted an Alpaca demonstration event for the first time this year. On display over the three days were a selection of Huacaya males and Suri females.
On offer were a wide variety of alpaca goods produced from the members own fleece as well as items provided from other alpaca product dealers around the country who were keen to help out.
The interest was unprecedented. Even as the BAS trailer was being stowed away at the conclusion of the event people were still queuing for information and leaflets.

The Great Yorkshire Show Ground is the jewel of all the Northern Shows situated in Harrogate it covers 250 acres with 7 miles of roads and parking for 20,000 vehicles. With over 135,000 visitors to the show it was important that the YAA made a good first impression with the Great Yorkshire Show. That was achieved and we will be hopefully invited to return for a judged show next year. In future years we hope to make this event as successful as our counterparts further South.
This year has been a promising event with The Yorkshire Agricultural Society entering into discussion with the Yorkshire Alpaca Group regarding the possibilty that halter classes were being considered for future years.
County Alpacas will be at the forefront of progress in the Yorkshire Region for the development of the alpaca and the successful production and promotion of alpaca events.
