County Alpacas have worked with local trades to bring these socks to market. The alpaca is from our own herd here in the Pennine hills. The wool is sourced in Yorkshire. The alpaca and wool was scoured in Bradford, blended at a blending mill less than a mile from the farm, then spun at a mill in Huddersfield and dyed in Dewsbury. The socks were manufactured from the yarn in the Midlands where the nylon content was added to provide strength and flexibility. There is no other sock we are aware of that will have a lower carbon footprint.
These socks are a woollen spun sock made from alpaca fleece from our own herd. They are ideal for riding boots, wellies or light walking. They are exceptionally warm for a thinner sock which demonstrates the properties of the alpaca in the yarn. They have a 45% alpaca content hence cheaper and not quite as soft as the 75% alpaca sock.
